Ranganna Ealaíne Scoile
Cuireadh tús le Céim 1 den tionscadal thiar i Meán Fómhair na bliana 2006, tráth ar chuir Ceardlann na gCroisbhealaí seisiúin ealaíne ar siúl go seachtainiúil, ócáidí a thóg isteach raon cleachtas amharc-ealaíon agus bunteoiric ealaíne. San áireamh anseo bhí cuairt ar Áras Nua-Ealaíne na hÉireann (an IMMA) agus ar Dhánlann Hugh Lane, i mBaile Átha Cliath.
Mar a tharlaíonn go minic i gcás mhic léinn atá lonnaithe faoin tuath, ba í seo an chéad deis a bhí ag na daoine óga seo an ‘nua-ealaíon’ a bhlaiseadh ina steillbheatha. Bhí sé de bhua ag an turas seo gur spreagadh na scoláirí le tabhairt faoi deara nach luíonn an ealaíon mar a bheadh sí sáinnithe taobh istigh de fhráma atá ar crochadh i seomra geal bán - agus ann sin amháin - agus fosta nach gá i gcónaí don ealaíon bheith macasamhlach.
School Art Classes
Part 1 of the project began back in September ’06 with the Ceardlann delivering weekly art sessions that introduced a range of contemporary visual art practices and basic art theory. Included in this section were trips to IMMA and The Hugh Lane Gallery, Dublin.
As it is for many rural secondary students, this was the first real opportunity for these young people to experience first hand ‘modern art’. This trip proved successful in that it prompted the students to consider that not all art sits inside a frame inside a white room and nor is does it always have to be representational.
