Cúrsa Beochana
Is ar na mallaibh a cuireadh tús le Céim 2 agus tiocfaidh sé chun críche ag deireadh na Bealtaine. San áireamh sa chuid seo den tionscadal táthar ag foghlaim scileanna úra a bhaineann le beochan, ceol agus teicneolaíocht na scannánaíochta. Cuireadh tús leis an mhír seo nuair a tógadh na scoláirí le cuairt a thabhairt ar The Nerve Centre i nDoire, ó’s iad siúd atá ag éascú na míre. Cúis spreagthaí agus misnigh atá sa taithí luachmhar, sa ghairmiúlacht agus san fhlaithiúlacht atá The Nerve Centre ag bronnadh ar an togra. Go sonrach, tá na scoláirí ag foghlaim fá theicneolaíocht an cheoil .i. ag meascadh le Garage Band, ag taifeadadh le Pro-Tools, agus scileanna an dioscmharcaigh nó an DJ. Go luath tabharfaidh na scoláirí faoin fhísteicneolaíocht, rud a chuimseoidh scileanna taifeadta amuigh ar an suíomh, scileanna ceamara, scéalchlárú agus scríbhneoireacht scripte.
Anuas air sin tá ceachtanna á reáchtáil againn i mbeochan íomhá-ar-íomhá, agus cheana féin is léir go bhfuil cuid de na scoláirí thar a bheith tógtha leis. Tá sé ar intinn acu gearrscannán beochana a fhorbairt ar Cholm Cille. Mórchuid den mhír í an ghné seo, agus tá na scoláirí sásta a gcuid saorama a chaitheamh ag cleachtadh scileanna úra s’acu. ‘Sé atá i gceist leis seo uilig ná na scoláirí a chumasú lena gcuid smaointe i leith an tionscadail a fhorbairt agus san am céanna ligean daofa cleachtais a bhaineann leas as na teicneolaíochtaí comhaimseartha a bhlaiseadh.
Animation Course
Part 2 has now begun and will culminate at the end of May. This part of the project includes learning new skills relating to animation, music and film technology. The students embarked on this section with a tour of The Nerve Centre, Derry, who are facilitating this section. Indeed, the wealth of experience, professionalism and generosity that The Nerve Centre is committing to this project is inspiring. Specifically, the students are learning about music technology; ‘Garage Band’ mixing, ‘Pro-Tools’ recording and ‘DJ-ing’ skills. Soon the students will tackle video technology such as location recording skills, camera skills, storyboarding and scriptwriting.
We also conducted ‘stop-motion’ animation tutorials and a number of students are really embracing this aspect. They aim to be able to develop a short animation film for the summer on ‘Colmcille’. This is an intensive part of the project and students are committing their free time to practice their new skills. The point of the above is to enable the students to develop their ideas for this project through contemporary technological practices.
