Íomha Cheannaithe

Rogha ealaíona le Brian Byrne

Domsa, tá próiseas na péintéireachta go bunúsach mothúchánach, meandrach agus láithreach ina fheidhm. Tá breathnú tábhachtach; ní ghlacaim nótaí i dtaca le dáth nó tagairtí líníochta, & rl. Is gnáth liom na híomhanna a shú isteach, ag súil go bpreabfaidh siad aníos nuair atá siad de dhíth. Ní dhéanaim réamhsceitsí siocair go dtig leo an fuinneamh a shú amach as próiseas na péintéireachta. Tá neasacht chur na gcéad mharcanna fíorthábachatach. Nuair amháin a fhaightear an móiminteam, cruthóidh an phéintéireacht a rithim féin. Nuair a chuirtear stop leis an rithim seo, beidh deireadh leis an phróiseas péintéireachta. Is é an pointe iarmhír den stopadh a shocraíonn cáilíocht an tsaothair.

A Hard Won Image

A selection of paintings by Brian Byrne

The painting process for me is primarily emotional, instantaneous and immediate in its function. Observation is important, I don’t make notes as to colour or drawing references etc. I tend to absorb the images in the hope that they will “pop up” when required. I do not make preliminary sketches, as they can “sap” the energy from the painting process. The immediacy of the application of the first marks are paramount. Once a momentum is achieved the painting will create its own rhythm. The interruption of this rhythm will terminate the painting process. The actual point of interruption will determine the quality of the work.
